EnergyGel Plus is smooth with a light consistency and a dash of real juice for a great taste. It’s not thick or overly sweet. Easy to open and swallow, each sachet contains 23g of carbohydrate and a moderate dose of caffeine (30mg). When taking EnergyGel Plus as recommended, the caffeine content can increase attention, concentration and reaction time. Which High5 gel to choose: EnergyGel Plus or IsoGel Plus? Both types of gel do the same job. However, IsoGel Plus has a lighter consistency somewhere between a drink and a gel. EnergyGel Plus has a slightly thicker consistency, but is less bulky and lighter in weight, which makes it easier to carry in larger quantities.
2:1 FRUCTOSE GEL
High5 DO NOT produce a 2:1 fructose gel. We believe that there is little real world benefit to such a gel for most athletes. The advantage of 2:1 is that you can potentially consume more carbohydrate (up to 90g per hour), but you would need to take 4 gels an hour to realise that benefit. The Glasgow University research tells us that Marathon runners will generally only take 2 to 3 gels per hour (46g to 69g of carbohydrate), even when instructed to consume more. This inability to consume 4 gels per hour negates the main benefits of a 2:1 gel formulation. So there is little upside to a 2:1 gel, but there is a major downside. A high fructose 2:1 gel would be very sweet, when athletes tell us time and again that they want a non-sickly gel.
DOSAGE & USAGE

Note: very occasionally some athletes find that caffeine can increase cramp, so always try EnergyGel Plus in training before racing. If there is a problem, then simply switch to using standard EnergyGel.
