Lucy Gossage

I never planned to become a triathlete but am enjoying where life is taking me! I’m a cancer doctor by trade and am currently enjoying a 2 year sabbatical from work. My 2015 goal is to qualify again for the Ironman world championships and banish the demons from a bad race there in 2014!

Major results:

  • 1st Ironman Lanza
  • 2nd Ironman South Africa
  • 2nd Alpe d’huez long course
  • 2nd Ironman 70.3 Lanzarote
  • 1st overall (beating all the men!) Ballbuster duathlon

I’’m a big fan of the isogels on long runs – I love the fact you don’t need to take them with water. I also particularly like the Energy Source Extreme and always make sure I have one available to give me a kick in the last 10 miles of the run in an ironman.

How long have you been using high5 for?

Ever since I started triathlon

Your tip for an aspiring athlete…

Make sure you know why you’re doing it and try to keep it fun. I started triathlon as a hobby and it still feels very much like a hobby to me. If you don’t enjoy it you’’ll probably never get the best out of yourself. Join a club or find friends to train with and don’t let it all get too serious!
